Yoga was developed in India some 5000
years ago and is an integrated system of exercise and philosophy. Yoga
provides the opportunity to take some time out from the pressures and
demands of your day. It challenges the body through physical postures,
whilst simultaneously relaxing, calming and regenerating the mind
through controlling and regulating the breath. Time doing yoga is time
well spent as it can help:
Strengthen
the immune system
– fewer colds and cases of flu, faster recovery from illness.
Add
vitality and strength to the spine
- back pain is one of the commonest reasons for taking time off work.
Reduce
stress and tension
- especially around the shoulders and neck from sitting at computer
screens.
Expand
lung capacity and increase oxygen intake
- by oxygenating the brain, yoga increases the levels of endorphins in
the blood, which can dramatically reduce feelings of apathy and
depression.

In addition, yoga:
• improves muscle
tone, flexibility, strength and stamina
• improves all systems of the body
• improves digestion and lowers fat levels
• improves circulation
• increases energy levels during the day and helps you sleep
better at night
• enhances concentration and creativity
• creates a sense of well being and calm and boosts your self
esteem
In short, yoga makes you feel
good!
